About

Here to listen, help, and explore

Renee Herman is a licensed marriage and family therapist who is passionate about providing evidence based care (meaning there is research to prove it is effective) to individuals, couples, and families. Renee has specialized training in treatment of eating disorders along with treatment of anxiety disorders, and depression. Renee received her Masters of Arts in Clinical Counseling at Point Loma Nazarene University, and completed her practicum work in the eating disorder unit at Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital, San Diego. She then worked at Brightways Counseling in Redmond for 3 years and earned her license as a Marriage and Family Therapist. Her work focuses on creating healthy relationships (with people, body image, & food), building effective communication, healing from past trauma and increasing self esteem. Renee believes in taking a collaborative approach to help people reach their goals and that each person ultimately is the expert of their own life. Along with her private practice, Renee works in the education system (Bend La-Pine School District) and enjoys working with teenage clients along with adults. Feel free to reach out to Renee to see if you or a family member would be a good fit. Renee is originally from Kirkland Washington, and after drying out in the sun for a few years in San Diego, wanted to get closer to her native northwest roots. She and her family were fortunate enough to find the opportunity to relocate to the beautiful Sisters, Oregon. In her spare time, she loves gardening, reading, spending time with her spouse and kids, and exploring farmers markets. Books Renee recommends: Hold Me Tight - Sue Johnson (couples) Mindsight - Daniel Siegel Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Skills Workbook Mans Search for Meaning - Viktor Frankl When your Teen Has an Eating Disorder - Lauren Muhlheim Intuitive Eating - Evelyn Tribole (relationship with food) Sometimes we cannot change the environment significantly, but we can perhaps alter the way in which we perceive it. - Marsha Linehan
